"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."

The National Institute of Investor Relations (NIRI) is a
prominent national organization of investors, with the
organization's roots being traced back through several
organizations, to 1953 and a founding by Chairman of
General Electric Co. (GE), Mr. Ralph Cordiner, who made
the first systematic effort to formalize a corporation’s
relationship with its shareholders.
Usually State laws regulate corporations, but in 2002, a
federal law was created that called for corporate
accountability, and with the enactment of the Sarbanes-
Oxley law, the term "corporate governance" emerged
from boardrooms into the American business lexicology in
a new manner.
